High Quality Low Cost Die Castings
KenWalt
Die Casting Company economically produces Aluminum and Zinc Die
Castings designed to minimize and sometimes completely eliminate
secondary
machining and finishing requirements. The die castings shown include
transformer housings, regulator diaphragm retainers, cover plates and a
visual display assembly.
Innovative
Undercut Designs
KenWalt Die Casting Company successfully meets these special customer requirements by incorporating slides and
special core pulls into the die casting design process. The die castings shown highlight only a few
of the many possibilities such as electrical motor housings,
regulator bodies and switch control die cast housing parts.
Integrally
Die Cast Inserts
For special
die casting design characteristics that may not be obtainable with standard die casting alloys, integrally cast
inserts can be an economical method of achieving the die casting engineering design characteristics desired such as:
extra hardness at points of wear, special bearing qualities, passages
for liquids or gases, electrical or heat insulating properties, superior
electrical conductivity, resiliency, etc.
SERVING INDUSTRIES WORLDWIDE
For over 40 years and counting, KenWalt Die Casting Company continues to provide a wide
variety of industries
with high quality aluminum and zinc die cast parts delivered on-time at globally competitive
prices:
Automotive
& Truck Castings – Axle spacer rings, spring brake diaphragm plates, shim
plates, adapter plates, luggage rack retainers, truck air gladhands and
electrical connectors, housings, shock absorber retainer plates, etc.
Automotive Aftermarket Castings – Automotive side view mirrors,
air covers, tail light bezels, gas caps, etc.
Motorcycle Aftermarket Castings – drive chain
housings, handle bar grips, carburetors, cover plates, etc.
Product Design Development – Our customer produced
truck rear axle air spring brake actuators. A small aluminum hub was originally
pressed into a two piece welded steel plate to produce the main air diaphragm
support component. In coordination with our customer’s engineering department
we were able to produce the hub and plate as a one-piece pressure tight casting
able to meet all reliability and life time cycle requirements.
Medical
Equipment Castings – Electrical motor housings and end bells, air/oxygen supply
pumps, sleep apnea castings – air volute type pumps, assembly castings, etc.
Industrial
Equipment Castings – Servo control and electronic housings, heat sink plates
and enclosures, CNC tool holders, hydraulic manifolds, machinery
components, nameplates, etc.
Commercial Castings – Speaker frames, washroom dispensers, irrigation hardware,
3-hole paper punches, traffic signal enclosures, flow meter rotors, etc.
Product Design Development – The six (6)
subject flow meter components (rotors) had been produced in the Midwest for the
customer with rejection rates exceeding 30 percent (30%). The castings
require very high tolerance machining and a hard anodize finish (518 Aluminum
alloy). Correction to the casting gating system and casting process reduced
the rejection rate after machining to less than ½ percent (0.5%) and the customer’s
costs have been reduced along with their ability to meet their customer's delivery requirements.
As a result, our customer's casting requirements have since more than doubled (2X).
Aerospace
/Aircraft Castings – Actuator housings, solenoid and motor enclosures, end
bells, instrument housings, fuel flow valves, seating components, food
tray blocks, stowage door covers, armrest and hinge brackets, handles and
latches, etc.
Product Design Development – Original material specification for
manufacture of the customer’s armrest hinge brackets was 380 type Aluminum. The
armrest is approximately 18 inches long and if not raised when a passenger is
exiting the seat significant torque force can be applied to the bracket if
bumped, resulting in it’s failure. We recommended the use of a significantly
higher strength die cast alloy (ZA-27) and no part failures have since
occurred. As a result, the recommended material has been utilized on all subsequent hinge
designs.

Story Special Report on Manufacturing:
"Manufacturers
Making It Work"
and
"Going Green"
"KenWalt
Die Casting, a very traditional industry, is using solar energy
(alternative energy) to help power its facility in Sun Valley into the
future."
In
line with our continuing commitment to make a positive impact in
society and improve lives and our environment, KenWalt Die Casting
Company is expanding upon it's 'Commitment
to Excellence'
by further
reducing our environmental impact in our newly expanded
offices, secondary facilities, new inventory facility and our
Aluminum
and Zinc
Die Casting production facility.
"Energy
conservation and recycling raw materials are two key factors in our
energy conservation efforts to enhance our activities and improve lives
and our environment. By recycling and reusing 100% of our aluminum and
zinc alloy materials as well as pallets, packaging
containers, filters and hydraulic oil used in our aluminum and
zinc die casting process, we are making a big difference", says
KenWalt's Quality Manager and Co-Owner Kenny Zaucha.
For years
KenWalt has continued to implement energy conservation actions
to
conserve materials and energy, such as using energy efficient furnaces
to melt aluminum and zinc alloys and reusing machine lubrication oils
and die sprays. From turning off little used lights to early
work schedules that avoid peek energy usage, KenWalt's
employees, both
individually and as a team, contribute to energy conservation and
improving our environment.
New for 2011,
